Linux or Windows?
This is a tough question for your your first site, and the question will depend on a few question on how you plan your site.
- Are you planning to program in a particular language? i.e. ASP, PHP.
- Are you using a specific program to publish your work? i.e. Microsoft Front-Page
- Do you want the freedom to install a variety of "One Click Install" platforms? i.e. Joomla, Wordpress, phpBB
- As Linux is Open Source it has a different set programs and features from the proprietary software associated with Windows. If your site is to be programmed in PHP this would mean that you would need a Linux environment.
